Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's company Patanjali Ayurveda Limited is once again facing the threat of a government investigation. In fact, the government has termed some of the company's transactions as "suspicious and unusual".

Why is Patanjali in trouble?

According to sources, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has sent a notice to Patanjali Ayurveda. The Economic Intelligence Wing of the Ministry has raised concerns about some financial transactions of Patanjali. However, it is not yet clear which transactions are being talked about and how much money is involved.

Company got time

The company has been given about two months to respond to the notice. During this time, the ministry will also see whether there has been any lapse in corporate governance or fund diversion.

Patanjali has been in controversies earlier too

This is not the first time that questions have been raised on Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali. Last year too, a unit of Patanjali received a notice from the government for not paying taxes and claiming wrong refunds. At the same time, the Supreme Court of India also stopped Patanjali from promoting its products by claiming them to be a cure for some diseases.

Impact on public company

While Patanjali Ayurveda is a private company, its unit Patanjali Foods Limited is listed in the stock market. Its shares have fallen by about 10% this month.

All eyes are on this investigation

Now all eyes are on what response Patanjali gives to this notice and whether any concrete action is taken on this.
